Our Trip to Southern California

Jordan and I are back from our California trip! We went to Pasadena for a good friend’s wedding. I was so looking forward to this trip! I dearly miss our friend who now lives in San Francisco, and I was excited to get a sneak peak into his west coast life and celebrate his marriage. I had never been to California and it was definitely on my bucket list to visit and explore. As a mom, I day dreamed about this trip on many long days with the boys. As a wife, I was so looking forward to the one-on-one time with Jordan, and being able to relax and focus on each other only.

The boys stayed with my parents. I created a ‘surprise bag’ for each day of their vacation at Grandma and Poppy’s. The bags had candy, toys from the Target dollar section, and a note. It was fun to talk to the boys each day and hear how excited they were about their surprises. Silly string, dinosaurs, cars, play-doh, and crazy balls. I love how the little things go so far with little ones! This was our longest and furthest trip away from the boys and it went so well! I had so much fun and felt relaxed the entire time.

The wedding was absolutely gorgeous and picturesque. We met a lot of great people at the wedding festivities which made it even more enjoyable. After the three days of wedding festivities in Pasadena we drove up the coast to Santa Barbara. We stopped for lunch in Malibu. The scenery on our drive up highway 1 was beautiful. We rented a convertible which was perfect to take in the scenery and sunshine of the California coast.

Our time in Santa Barbara consisted of a pastry crawl, bike riding, a sunset cruise, hiking, hot springs, walks on the beach, lots of ocean front meals, and cruising around the mountains and coast of California.

I was actually sad when our vacation came to an end. We had so much fun having a week full of dates and adventures together. I wanted to stay longer…until…I saw our adorable little boys off in the distance at the airport holding a welcome home sign…my heart immediately melted and I couldn’t scoop them up fast enough! Home Sweet Home!

It had been 3 years since we last spent time with our friend and it was so good to be together again. I loved the opportunity to be just a wife for the week and create lifelong memories with Jord on the west coast. If you haven’t been there before, I highly recommend exploring the coast of Cali!
